The artists:

The best way to describe them...WOW!!

Emma Colon Zayas, one of the female pioneers to make her mark as a cuatrista in a male dominated musical genre. Back then when Emma started, there was no womens category in Cuatro and guiro competitions. But she would still participate and earned the respect and recognition that she enjoys now as one of Puerto Rico's great Cuatristas. Not only is she an accomplished professional Cuatro player, but an accomplished guiro player as well. You remember when she played the guiro at the 1st Festival Del Cuatro in January 2006; if you blinked you missed it! How did she do that!

Maribel Delgado, a young cuatrista who not only has immersed herself in anything related to the Puerto Rican Cuatro, but has taken a mayor step in the education efforts of Puerto Rico's National Icon, The Cuatro. Go to www.maribeldelgado.com and see a bit about Maribel and her album "El Cuatro en manos de una mujer".

Nelian Colon, last year we gave you a little taste of this young wonderful Cuatro and Tiple player. She tenderized you with her performance along her dad, Edwin Colon Zayas. Expect no less this year as Nelian tackles some of the more technical and traditional pieces of our traditional music with her Cuatro and Tiple.

Edwin Colon Zayas, without a doubt one of Puerto Rico's National Treasures, taking the Cuatro beyond imagination! Edwin and his group "taller campesino will accompany the three female performers as well as taking part in this beautiful show that will delight all of you present. He will have his latest CD release, Reafirmacion and other music. You can see more of Edwin Colon Zayas here (www.edwincolonzayas.com)

We will have an educational workshop from 1-3PM on the day of the event. The educational presentation starts at 1PM with "Traditional and Modern Cuatro Construction Methods presented by Roberto Rivera. At 1:45 PM Edwin and Bill Colon Zayas will demonstrate all the musical genres currently being played with the Puerto Rican Cuatro. At 2:25 PM a unique and up close opportunity to chat, interact and Photo opportunities with Emma Colon Zayas, Maribel Delgado and Nelian Colon.

We leave your for now, but for the next few months you will be receiving communications from us regarding the festival. Help us promote this wonderful event! Every year we come across Boricuas that say, "I just found out about the festival, I can't believe we missed it". This year we are making an effort to try and reach out to as many people as possible. The Festival Del Cuatro board feels very proud of what we are doing and want to share this with all of you.

Forward this message or the press release to all of your friends and family.

CariƱos,
On Behalf of the board and the Festival Del Cuatro organization
